Description
This method is a combination of the Triboelectric effect and Charging by induction. The result is a charged piece of metal which can easily give its charge. An insulator would only give its charge at the point of contact.
Equipment
- Fur
- Styrofoam plate
- Metallic disk
Instructions
- Charge the plate by rubbing the fur on it.
- Put the metallic disk on the plate.
- Ground the disk (The plate keeps most of its charge but the combination of both object is neutral, making the disk charged.)
- Separate the plate from the disk (be careful to not ground the disk once its not connected to the plate)
